- Here is a very rare item. I don\'t remember ever having one of these headlamps or shells at DomiRacer, although we probably did when we bought the Flint Indian Matchless inventory. That was when I left the company and was gone for 16 years. This is a used Lucas MCH61 headlamp headlight shell or bucket (as they say in Jersey) and it is in excellent shape. And what a shape it has! It takes the same 7\" lens & reflector unit, bulb holder and rim as most British bikes do, but the shell is longer and bullet shaped to accommodate a 3\" Smiths speedometer as well as an ammeter and 2 switches. This Lucas headlamp came on 1957-62 Norton Model 50, ES2 & 19, 1957-58 Model 30 & 40 International, 1957-62 88 & 99 Dominator, the first Norton Atlas 750 in 1962, 1962 88SS, 99SS, and 650, 1958-60 Nomad, 1961-2 Manxman & SS Dominator. Not for as many years as Norton, but this truly was an AMC design feature for road model AJS 16 & 16S 1960-62, Model 18 & 18S 1960-62, Model 20 & 31 1960-62, 20 De Luxe & 31 De Luxe 1960-61, 31CS & 31CSR 1962, and for Matchless road models G3 & G3S 1960-62, G80 & G80S 1960-62, G9 & G12 1960-62, G9 De Luxe & G12 De Luxe 1960-61, & G12CS & G12CSR 1962. Add Phelon & Moore to this select group of British motor bike manufacturers that came with the MCH61 Lucas headlamp on the spring frame Panther Model 120 from 1958 on.
