Marked Indian Motorcycles Scarce 1930s Early Leather Riding Cap WWII Aviator: $2400.00
This is a scarce surviving 1930-1940s era Indian Motorcycles leather riding hat. It is similar in style to WWII era leather bomber/aviator caps worn by pilots. The chinstrap button is marked with the Indian logo. The original adjustable chinstrap is present and intact but fragile. There are side buttons with leather tabs to hold riding goggles.Inside the cap is a fur lining. Buttons and pieces are all original and as found. I put a little neatsfoot oil to help keep the leather from drying over the years. All of the brass buttons on the side/bottom have oxidation and verdigris. As far as size, it is hard to measure. I have a larger head and wear about 7 1/2 size hat. It fits a bit snug on me. I think it would fit a thin to medium build person better. I have not clasped the bottom button so as not to cause any damage. I will leave any further use to the buyer. I am open to offers and will answer any questions. This was from an estate with other WWII era leather caps (see my previous sales). It displays well and is fully original and intact. A wonderful item for an Indian motorcycle enthusiast!
