Photo was taken in Wanganui New Zealand in 1914, these are some of the local club riders ready for a road hill climb, note they have removed head lights and exhaust pipes for the hill climb.
The first 3 bikes from the left are 1913 Indian 1000cc motorcycles, they have the kick start on the front side case of the engine, this was the first Indian with a kick starter, and the only year that came out with Kick starter on the engine, the year after it was mounted on the gearbox.
