Excellent used shop fabricated AJS, Matchless, Ariel, other Burman CP gearbox cover removal tool. Burman CP gearboxes were used on AJS and Matchless motorcycles from 1939-1951. These gearboxes were also used on other British motorcycles of the period. The Burman CP gearbox used studs to mount and secure the intermediate and outer gearbox cases. WHEN THESE STUDS ARE NOT STRAIGHT (MORE THAN NOT) THE INTERMEDIATE AND OUTER COVER ARE DIFFICULT TO REMOVE. This tool allows the outer cover to be removed using the slide hammer WITHOUT PRYING THE COVER UP WITH A SCREWDRIVER and marring the mating surfaces of the gearbox cases. It works very well.
