$99.99

This beautiful porcelain plate is part of a charity art series produced by the Korea Association for the Welfare of the Deaf. The artwork is by the renowned deaf Korean artist Kim Ki-chang (1913–2001), also known by his pen name Unbo.

It is titled “Sipjangsaengdo” (Ten Symbols of Longevity) and represents a modernized, folk-art interpretation of traditional Korean painting motifs:

* Deer (Saseum): Positioned at the bottom, symbolizing companionship, peace, and eternal youth.

* Cranes (Hak): Depicted mid-flight on the left, standard representations of longevity and high status.

* Mountains and Sun: The bold teal mountains and the large red sun background denote enduring strength and the essence of life.

* Signature and Seal: The left side bears the hand-painted signature of Unbo.

This porcelain piece was produced as a commemorative item on April 16, 1981 for a charity event hosted by the

Korean Association of the Deaf, which was led by Kim Ki-Chang as its president at the time and

Sponsored by KBS (Korean Broadcasting System) and manufactured by Hankook Chinaware Co., Ltd.

This item was created to support welfare initiatives for the deaf community during the UN's designated "International Year of Disabled Persons" (1981).

Measures a whopping 14.75” diameter and 2” in height. Very heavy.

Stunning and highly collectible.
