101st Airborne Division STB Gladiators Awarded for Excellence Challenge Coin
⭐ KEY FEATURES
• 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Special Troops Battalion Gladiators challenge coin
• Shield-shaped Screaming Eagle design with Air Assault Badge, unit crest, campaign honors, and presentation panel
• Dual-sided gold-tone construction with raised relief and multicolor enamel
📌 DESCRIPTION
The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) carries one of the most storied identities in U.S. Army history, from its World War II airborne campaigns through Vietnam and later combat operations. This Special Troops Battalion coin brings that legacy together with the battalion’s Gladiators identity and an “Awarded for Excellence” recognition format, incorporating the division’s history, unit identity and recognition purpose into a single design.
The front follows the distinctive shield silhouette of the division’s shoulder sleeve insignia rather than a conventional round coin. A large white Screaming Eagle fills the black enamel field beneath the raised AIRBORNE tab, with polished gold-tone borders and red enamel providing strong contrast. The shaped profile gives the coin an unmistakable 101st Airborne identity at a glance.
The reverse brings together the details that make this example particularly interesting. 101st Division Special Troops Battalion and 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) appear above “Awarded for Excellence” and a blank engraving panel, flanked by Major and Command Sergeant Major rank insignia. The Rendezvous With Destiny unit crest sits between campaign references to Normandy, Bastogne, Holland, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq, while STRENGTH OF THE EAGLE, the Air Assault Badge, and GLADIATORS complete the design.

🧭 CONDITION & PHOTO NOTES
This shield-shaped 101st Airborne Division coin retains crisp raised details, bright enamel colors, and an attractive gold-tone finish. The black enamel field shows some visible flow and pooling around the lower portion of the Screaming Eagle design, appearing consistent with the original enamel application rather than later wear. Light surface and edge wear from prior handling is also visible under close inspection.
The reverse remains sharply readable, with strong relief across the lettering, rank insignia, campaign names, unit crest, and Air Assault Badge. The blank Awarded for Excellence presentation panel remains unengraved, and the gold-tone surfaces retain an attractive overall appearance with light signs of prior handling visible in the photos.
As with most pre-owned collectible challenge coins, light evidence of handling, display, storage, or age may be present. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form part of the description and provide the best representation of the exact coin you will receive.
📸 Photos are taken under high-intensity lighting to highlight fine details, sculpting, and finish. This lighting may reveal minor surface characteristics that are often less noticeable during normal display.
🪙 This listing is for one (1) challenge coin only.
