This week I'm offering a variety of cards from non-sport sets of the Fifties and Sixties. Monster and horror movies were big during that period, and various companies issued sets picturing monsters. These sets have remained immensely popular with collectors. Topps issued a set of 108 small cards in 1963, titled "Monster Midgees". The cards showcased photos taken from some of the cheezier "B" movies of the era, each one given the humorous caption treatment. A silly joke on the back rounded off the presentation, and the set was a huge hit with eight-year-olds of all ages. The cards were issued in perforated strips of three, an experiment Topps conducted with several sets in 1963. The set was reissued the following year with the addition of 45 more cards. These higher numbered cards are quite rare. This is a lot of 58 different cards from the set, over half of the original 108-card set. They include #2, 4, 6, 7, 11-13, 15-19, 23, 24, 27-29, 33, 36, 38, 40, 45, 47, 53-58, 62, 64-66, 71, 72, 76, 79-82, 86, 88, 90-92, 94, 98, 100-108. The cards show perforations on the side and some corner wear, but they're generally in nice shape (see scans for condition). All in all, an attractive example of a Sixties phenomenon. This would be a terrific addition to any collection!Shipping will be discounted for multiple purchases.
