19th c Italian Signed Minghetti Faience Ceramic Majolica Renaissance Vase Lamp For Sale

Description: This antique 19th century Italian polychrome faience vase was made in Bologna by the highly celebrated Italian master ceramist and painting of maiolica (majolica)Angelo Minghetti (1822-1885). It was crafted in the Renaissance Revival style as an apothecary jar or albarello featuring hand painted grotesques masques and elaborate scrollwork, putti, mascarons and a central medallion depicting a historical figure in a ruff collar. At the backside is a decorative cartouche with the Latine inscription OMNIS SPES IN LABORE (translated as 'All hope is in labor'). The ceramic vase consists out of two parts; the upper part with the two fiers looking griffin or dragon handles and the lower part ceramic base. The base is signed by the artist with underneath written Bologna and Italia.
The vase/lamp is placed on a very solid and beautifully decorated bronze base which gives it both stability and elevates its overall look.
Because of its construction the vase has NOT been drilled for the passing of electrical wiring. So, if one wishes to remove the electrical components to regain its original vase stature, one can do that without diminishing its value.Condition: Remarkably, the ceramic parts are all intact without any repairs nor breaks. There are few glaze chips as to be expected for faience that old.
