Beautiful lot of two antique Victorian-era fringed Christmas greeting cards, dating approximately to the late 19th century.
The red-fringed card is especially unusual because it is double-sided. One side features a floral Christmas design with a snowy house scene and Christmas verse. The reverse features colorful flowers surrounding a sparkling winter woodland scene with a New Year greeting and verse.
The second card depicts a young person in a beret and scarf with “Christmas Greetings” below. It is surrounded by cream textile fringe and marked Raphael Tuck & Sons, London.
Both feature wonderful period color lithography and decorative textile fringe. The winter scenes on the red-fringed example are embellished with sparkling mica-like material.
Each measures approximately 7" x 5", including fringe.
Antique condition with expected toning, spotting, surface wear and deterioration/fraying to the textile fringe. Please see all photographs for exact condition.
Wonderful original Victorian holiday ephemera for a Christmas collection, Raphael Tuck collection or antique paper display.
