Antique The Branch Bank Automatic Recording Safe Co Commercial State Bank MT:
$60.00

This is an antique “The Branch Bank” made by The Automatic Recording Safe Company of Chicago, U.S.A. It was specifically issued for the Commercial State Bank, No. 589, Miles City, Montana, with the original bank nameplate still present. The bank has separate Nickels and Cents registering compartments with graduated scales. The underside carries the Automatic Recording Safe Company markings and patent dates of 1904, 1905, 1911 and 1913.The manufacturer marketed these as compartment recording safes for banks, and contemporary advertising specifically identifies “The Branch Bank” as one of its models. Banks could have their own identifying nameplates installed. Condition is consistent with age, including surface wear, scratches, oxidation/patina and some finish loss. Please study all photographs for the exact condition. The key and mechanism should be considered untested unless you have confirmed that they work. This would appeal to collectors of vintage banks, Montana history, banking memorabilia, advertising collectibles, mechanical banks and early-1900s Americana.
