Vintage Japanese Nambu Tekki cast iron decorative piece made in the form of a traditional tsuba / samurai sword guard.
Original box is marked 南部鉄器 (Nambu Tekki / Nambu ironware) and 本場盛岡, identifying it with the traditional ironware of Morioka, Japan. The cast iron piece appears to be marked 南部鉄器 on one side and 盛岡名産, meaning a Morioka specialty or local product.
This is a decorative souvenir / tsuba-style cast iron piece, not being represented as an antique functional samurai sword fitting.
Oval form with central sword-tang-style opening and textured cast surface. Includes the original fitted cardboard box.
Both the iron piece and box show age, oxidation/patina, staining, edge wear and general storage wear consistent with age. Please review all photos closely for condition.
