Featuring the bluelines(see below for information about bluelines) ofJohn Byrne (X-Men, Superman, Fantastic Four, Next Men, etc.)with original (by-hand) inks by Guy Dorian (Spider-Man, X-Men, Rom, Aquaman, Captain America, etc.), withstory by Byrne, this original art page is from X-Men:Elsewhen #29 and recounts Wolverine\'s first encounter with the jade giant from Incredible Hulk #181!Originally \'fan fiction\' by Byrne, Elsewhen is a soon-to-be published story that brings all of Byrne\'s original 32 issues together into a 3-part graphic novel series (see below for more info on Elsewhen).It measuresapproximately 11 by 17 inches, is in excellent condition and will be shipped with the utmost care. It is signed by hand by Dorian.Purchased directly from the inker at his Baltimore Comic Con appearance (I believe in 2023) and, per the artist, the pages were done for consideration for the book and Dorian was in discussions to be the inker. The page also went through the vetting process and was even accepted by Byrne but, at the last minute, he decided to ink the pages himself with an assistant. That said, it is still possible the page could be used in the book but, per the artist, it now seems unlikely. Still, they were part of the process and did initially receive approval from Byrne.
Please note- this page is bluelines (again, see below for further info on what bluelines actually are) and is a one-of-a-kind original. Also shown in the above scans is the pencils created by Byrne with story text but the listing is for the inked page only.
About X-Men: Elsewhen:
John Byrne\'s \"X-Men Elsewhen\" is a three-volume graphic novel series that presents an alternate continuation of the X-Men story following the Dark Phoenix Saga. Unlike the original storyline, in this version Jean Grey survives but with drastically reduced powers and intellect, leading to a very different trajectory for the characters. Byrne\'s story diverges from the 1984 epic finale, exploring new adventures such as trips to the Savage Land, battles with Sentinels, and interactions with Marvel\'s Avengers and Fantastic Four. This work was originally a fan-created continuation spanning 32 issues, now officially published, with Byrne handling writing, penciling, and inking for much of the series. It reflects his pure, undiluted vision of the X-Men, revisiting and reimagining characters and storylines beyond the official canon.
About bluelines:
Given today\'s technology, many comic industry professionals are moving away from penciling pages and then having the inker ink the original pencils themselves. With scanners, email, etc., so prevalent artists can simply scan in the original pencils, e-mail them to the inker, who then prints out these \"bluelines\" and inks those. It\'s becoming more and more common. Some pencilers even do their work digitally, so there are no original pencils at all. That said, bluelines are the completed, finished pieces of artwork that are used to create the finished comic book. So they are still one-of-a-kind pieces of artwork and they are the final artwork as it appears in the completed comic.
