This vintage lot of photographs and negatives depicts the Lock & Dam No 7, taken in 1934, 35, and 36 when the site was constructed along with an original letter typed by a skilled concrete technician from the Corp of Engineers who worked on the Lock and the Dam. The photos capture the construction of the dam, built to control the flow of water in the Mississippi River. The photographs are original, not a reproduction, and is a great addition to any collection of railroadiana and transportation memorabilia. Included is an original 2+ page typed letter from Robert \"Bob\" L. Goetschel of Joliet, IL written July 28, 1985 to the Lockmaster of Lock & Dam No 7 to provide his memory and history of the construction of the dam and lock in 1934-36. Fascinating history that should be preserved. There are actually 2 copies of the letter included. There are 5 negatives included in the lot as well of the original pictures he describes in his letter. We have included the printed pictures that were found with these documents. LaCrescent MN.
