This board-mounted albumen photo from 1890 shows a steam engine beneath the Point Hotel on Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga TN overlooking a Civil War battlefield. The Hardie Brothers operated the Point Lookout studio and photographic gallery from 1889, when they leased it from previous owner George T. Linn (who subsequently opened a studio at Sunset Rock), until the late 1890s. During that time the brothers published two printed catalogs of photographs showing Lookout Mountain's unique topography and breath-taking views. Slight discoloration at top of the image but otherwise very crisp. Mounting card has gilt edges.
