Handcrafted wooden kaleidoscope by American studio artist Peach Reynolds, signed and dated 1987 on the base. This example features a beautifully turned hardwood cylindrical body with warm natural grain and a smooth hand-finished surface.
The kaleidoscope produces colorful symmetrical patterns through its internal mirror system and chamber of colored elements, visible through the viewing window at the base. When rotated, the internal components create constantly shifting geometric imagery typical of handcrafted studio kaleidoscopes.
Peach Reynolds is known for producing finely made wooden kaleidoscopes that blend woodworking craftsmanship with optical art. Signed examples from the 1980s represent early studio work and are increasingly collected by enthusiasts of artisan kaleidoscopes and American studio craft.
