CONDITION:

Estate find in great pre-owned condition. Clean interior, sturdy hinge. Missing the original outer mesh pouch and paper fortune.

HISTORICAL CONTEXT:

Created as an exclusive promotional giveaway for the canceled 2001 Boston-Hong Kong inaugural route.

Following the tragic events of September 11, 2001, the airline sector collapsed into a severe crisis, forcing United Airlines to indefinitely cancel the new route. Because the flight route never officially launched, the vast majority of these promotional gift boxes were never distributed, making them extremely rare aviation artifacts.
