This is a vintage Chicago model manual pencil sharpener, manufactured by the Automatic Pencil Sharpener Co. (APSCO). Measures 4" tall and good working order. What makes this specific piece incredibly rare is the original advertising decal on the front reading: "Gimbel Brothers Stationery Store, Phil. Delphia." This was a custom promotional or inventory piece tailored specifically for the historic Gimbels Department Store stationery department in Philadelphia. Sharpener features the highly sought-after, translucent yellow celluloid shavings receptacle. Celluloid from this era is notoriously fragile, making an intact window like this exceptionally tough to find. Displaying both the Gimbel Brothers store decal and the classic script "Chicago" logo shield.
