Very Rare AntiqueFelix the CatIce Fishing Decoy / LureAll original paint and hardwareWeighted Working Decoywith swinging tail in original working conditionWe are pleased to offer a very rare ice fishing decoy. This Felix the Cat ice fishiing decoy is a hand carved wood piece of exceptional folk art. Novelty decoys such as these were made in the mid- to late 1920s by local carvers in the great lakes region. Like others found this one is unsigned. It has all the original paint, hardware, fins, and working oscillating tail. Some websites say these were made by First Nations/ Native Americans in the Great Lakes Region but I have not been able to verify this information. Either way this decoy is a wonderful cross section of Folk Art/ Commerical art influence, and antique fishing decoys and lures. This will make a great addition to your serious collection!
We acquired this decoy from an estate of a high end collector of antiques and decoys and will be listing other fishing decoys from this collection.
