Offered is an interesting group of eight original vintage photographs, each approximately 6¾ × 9 inches, documenting scenes believed to be from Panama, possibly Panama City, during the late 1920s.

The photos are all the same size and are a matte finish on a slight textured paper.
The photographs show a fascinating variety of waterfront and street scenes, including:
Busy waterfront/market scenes with numerous people and boats
Fishing boats and harbor activity
Tropical produce and banana vendors
Streets and commercial buildings
Waterfront structures and harbor areas
Local people and daily life
Tropical architecture and landscape
At least one photograph bears the handwritten signature/name Joseph Mattingly, and the photographs carry the printed photographic credit:

“L.A. Steamship Los Angeles Steamship Company operated passenger service and made special voyages associated with the Panama Canal in 1928–1929, making this group particularly interesting as possible documentation from one of those voyages.
These are original period photographs, not modern reproductions. Their large 6¾ × 9-inch format and professional photographic printing make them especially interesting to collectors of maritime history, Panama Canal history, travel photography, steamship memorabilia, and early 20th-century documentary photography.
Condition: Vintage condition with expected age-related wear, including light surface marks, corner/edge wear and some toning. Please examine all photographs carefully in the photographs provided.

Date: Probably 1920s, possibly 1928–1929 based on the L.A. Steamship Company connection.

In fact, the 1928–29 L.A. Steamship Panama voyages are a very promising lead. I can dig specifically for Joseph Mattingly + L.A. Steamship Co. + Panama, and try to identify the individual locations/buildings in these eight photographs before you list them.
