Rare Late 1800s Irish Bog Oak Shamrock Picture Frame Harp Hand Carved

Uncommonly found late 19th-century Irish bog oak picture frame carved in the form of a shamrock, with an oval portrait opening and folding easel back. Dating likely to the late 1800s, this is a particularly elusive survivor of the Victorian Irish bog oak souvenir-carving tradition, especially in this small figural form.

The face is densely hand carved with shamrocks, scrolling foliage and an Irish harp above the portrait opening. Its combination of bog oak, distinctly Irish iconography, diminutive size and unusually well-preserved presentation makes it a noteworthy example of 19th-century Irish decorative Bog oak
