Listing Description

This is an iconic piece of Art Deco automotive history: a Vintage Lincoln Greyhound Hood Ornament. Originally introduced in the 1920s and popularized throughout the 1930s, this leaping greyhound symbolized the speed, grace, and elegance of the Ford-owned Lincoln luxury brand.

This specific mascot is mounted directly to a vintage threaded radiator cap, making it a fantastic display piece for a collection or a candidate for a high-end vehicle restoration. The sculpture captures the lean, muscular anatomy of the greyhound in a full-speed "double suspension" gallop.

Technical Details & Condition

Subject: Leaping Greyhound
Mounting: Integrated onto a knurled-edge radiator cap
Material: Chrome-plated or nickel-plated die-cast metal
Condition Notes:
- Patina: The ornament displays an authentic, aged patina with light surface "pitting" and finish wear consistent with a genuine vintage automotive part.
- The greyhound was personally selected by Edsel Ford to represent the Lincoln line. Authentic original mascots are highly prized, as many modern reproductions exist. This piece shows the tell-tale signs of a period-correct casting, including the detailed rib cage and the specific "leaping" posture used on 1930s models.
