This is an authentic 1948 campaign poster for Dave Hamil’s run for Governor of Colorado. Hamil was a titan of Colorado politics and a key figure in the modernization of rural America. This piece features the iconic “Allied Printing Trades Council” union bug (Shop #4, Denver) at the bottom center, a hallmark of mid-century professional political printing.
About the Candidate: Dave Hamil (1908–2002)
• Speaker of the House: Served as the Speaker of the Colorado House of Representatives from 1951 to 1956.
• REA Administrator: Appointed by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956 (and later by Richard Nixon) as the National Administrator of the Rural Electrification Administration (REA).
• Rural Pioneer: Known as a champion for bringing electricity and telephone service to rural farming communities across the United States.
• Colorado Legacy: A native rancher from Logan County, his career spanned over 40 years of public service.
