💎🌎 Somewhere in the 1990s, a school bus deposited a bunch of children at an educational destination and somebody decided the appropriate souvenir was tiny rocks from around the world sealed to cardboard. And I can personally confirm this because I was one of those children.
This vintage Gemstones of the World specimen collection includes rough and polished examples of amethyst, rose quartz, green quartz, turquoise, moonstone, snowflake obsidian, carnelian, lace agate and unakite, all labeled with their locations of origin. The reverse gets delightfully serious about the whole operation with hardness scales, chemical compositions and geological information because apparently we were expected to leave the gift shop ready to identify minerals professionally.
And somehow, against every instinct possessed by a child in the 90s, I never opened it. It has remained sealed in its original plastic for roughly three decades, complete with the tiny old $2.00 price sticker still hanging on for dear life.
Basically a tiny traveling geology museum that has been waiting roughly 30 years for someone to finally appreciate the tremendous restraint I demonstrated by not ripping it open on the school bus. 💎✨
