Stunning & Rare Mid-Century Italian 18K Solid Gold St. Christopher Travel Protection Keychain / Watch Fob
Up for sale is an incredibly substantial, complete vintage 18k solid yellow gold traveler’s medallion keychain. Weighing in at a heavy 18.3 grams, this luxury heirloom is a beautiful piece of mid-century jewelry craftsmanship and a highly collectible piece of automotive history.
Unlike standalone pendants that have been cut away from their original mountings over the decades, this piece remains 100% complete and intact. The medallion is beautifully suspended from its original, intricately woven 18k gold mesh ribbon strap, capped off by its functioning gold spring-clip security closure.
• Obverse (Front): Features a deeply struck, classical relief of Saint Christopher—the patron saint of travelers—safely carrying the Christ Child across turbulent waters.
• Reverse (Back): Showcases a magnificent, highly detailed automotive motif depicting a classic mid-century sports car driving along a scenic mountain pass beneath a radiant sunlit sky.
Condition Notes:
Excellent vintage condition with a beautiful, natural warm patina to the gold. The struck details on both sides of the medallion remain sharp and crisp. The woven gold mesh ribbon is fully intact with no kinks, frays, or broken links. The top spring-loaded clasp opens smoothly and closes securely.
Collector’s Note:
With a substantial raw weight of 18.3 grams of solid 18k gold, this piece holds incredible intrinsic value, but its true rarity lies in its pristine, unaltered condition. It makes an exquisite gift for a vintage sports car enthusiast, a luxury watch fob collector, or anyone who appreciates the romance of mid-century European travel protection.
