Stunning Antique Art Deco Automatic \"Roller\" Pocket Petrol Lighter – Fully Serviced & Working Flawlessly
Up for sale is a beautifully preserved example of a late 1920s / 1930s semi-automatic petrol pocket lighter. This elegant piece perfectly captures the clean, geometric aesthetic of the classic Art Deco era.
Design & Mechanics:
Featuring a flat-sided rectangular silhouette, an exposed bottom fuel cap, and a thumb-activated snuffer arm resting above a knurled spark wheel. When the mechanism is actuated, the internal leaf spring snaps the snuffer arm open while simultaneously striking the flint wheel to ignite the wick. It operates smoothly and reliably.
Condition & Provenance:
- Mechanical State: FULLY WORKING & SERVICED. The flint tube is clear, the spring tension is excellent, and it produces a strong spark every time. It has a fresh wick and internal cotton batting.
- Cosmetic State: Excellent vintage condition with minimal surface wear. The bright nickel/chrome plating remains highly reflective with an authentic age patina.
- Markings: There are no manufacturer stamps or patent numbers, meaning this was likely a blank high-quality chassis supplied to a high-street retailer.
- Personalisation: The front features a beautifully executed, hand-engraved circular script monogram displaying the initials \"EC\", adding fantastic historic character.
This is a beautiful, one-of-a-kind functional object perfect for an avid tobacciana collector or anyone who appreciates the ritual of a high-quality vintage pocket lighter.
Please note: Due to postal regulations, the lighter will be shipped completely drained of petrol fluid and without a flint.
Postage & Packaging:
Will be securely wrapped and dispatched via Royal Mail Signed For to ensure safe delivery. Please see photos for a closer look at the cosmetic condition.
