Hand-carved and hand-painted wood sculpture by Carl Olof Trygg (1910–1993), one of Sweden’s most recognized masters of Scandinavian flat-plane woodcarving. Signed on the base ‘C.O. Trygg, Sweden, 1976.’ Charming folk-art scene of a Victorian gentleman in top hat and tails with cane, standing beside a lamppost and looking down at a small pink elephant, all on a hand-painted checkered base. A wonderful example of Trygg’s style and a great piece for collectors of Scandinavian folk art. Condition: vintage with light wear commensurate with age — please review all photos. The underside of the base shows tape residue. The small holes were created by artist to support and attach.
