This is a late-1940s Dominion Style 1101 flip-flop/flip-door/hinged-door electric toaster with decorated chrome-metal doors and walnut handles and feet. It also includes the original patterned, cloth-covered detachable cord with an on/off switch. It works, but the upper heating elements may not work, or I may not have given them enough time to warm up.
This appliance is interesting because it was among the last flip-flop/hinged-door toasters. The common pop-up toasters were available at the time, but they were in high demand and significantly pricier - about $6 versus $16–$24 (in today's dollars, approx. $70 versus $180–$250). By the early 1950s, these toasters were relics.
The base is approx. 7-1/2" x 5-1/2", and the toaster stands approx. 7" tall.
Good condition considering its age - it's pretty clean for a used toaster, but expect the typical wear without the caked-on grease and food residue. The black-painted areas show paint wear and surface rust. The chrome doors have some scratches, but a good buffing would likely resolve most of them.
