This hand-coiled Hopi jar or bottle has unusual form and delicately painteddecoration. It is signed on the base, Patricia Honie.Patricia (1919-2001) and her older sister Juanita Healing (1916-2006) were both noted Hopi potters from SichomoviVillage on 1st Mesa.Theylearned pottery-making from their paternal grandmother, passing this enduring legacy and craftsmanship through the generations. This is probably an early example of her work.Despitesome wear to its decoration, this piece retains a captivating charm.
Dimensions: 4" tall, 3-1/2" maximum diameter, 1-5/8" diameterat top, 2" base diameter
Condition: Good. No cracks, chips or repairs. There is some wear to a portion ofthe black decoration, commensurate with age and use (see photos).
