Vintage Large 12\" Scale Fontanini Nativity Set, 17 Piece Italian Nativity Jesus For Sale

This vintage nativity set was made by the Fontanini Co. in Italy sometime around the 1960s.

This Italian nativity set is large. It is the 12\" scale. Scale refers to the height of the tallest standing figure in the collection. It is made out of what Fontanini calls Polymer with green cardboard on bottom. The pieces are marked.

The large nativity set is from the Life Scale collection. It consists of 17 pieces including the Holy Family, the Wise Men, an angel, shepherds, musicians, a villager, and animals. The pieces are as follows:

1. Mary, 9 1/2\" high.
2. Joseph, 9 1/2\" high; holding wire crook or staff; small flake on the back of the robe.
3. Jesus, 4\" long; retains his foil halo; in resin manger, marked on bottom Depose Italy with logo.
4. Angel, 7\" high; pinpoint scuff on nose, small chip on sleeve.
5. Wise Man, 12 3/8\" high; Black man in orange turban; chip on finger (still HAS the finger).
6. Wise Man, 10 1/2\" high; kneeling; speck on nose and robe.
7. Wise Man, 12\" high; wearing gold crown; speck on nose.
8. Donkey, 9 1/2\" wide; speck on mane, production flaw on ear.
9. Camel, 11\" wide; nick on back of ear; speck on hump and top of head.
10. Cow or Bull, 10\" wide; horns are wire-wrapped.
11. and 12. Two lambs; 4 1/2\" wide.
13. Shepherd with lamb on shoulders; 12\" high; glaze flake on hand; chip on blanket.
14. Kneeling shepherd; 8 1/2\" high.
15. Bagpiper musician; 12\" high; chip under brim of hat.
16. Boy playing a horn; 11 1/2\" high; shallow chip under collar.
17. Black woman villager; 12\" high; missing something (rod or staff) from her hand; speck on finger.

These nativity pieces are in excellent vintage condition with signs of age such as the specks and chips listed in the details. Most of these flaws are not noticeable -- I discovered them as I went over each piece with a damp Q-tip. They have rich, bright color but there is darkening in the folds of the clothing. It is possible that I have missed some flaws but overall, these nativity pieces are in excellent shape and display beautifully. I have more pictures upon request.
