Attractive vintage Japanese lacquered box dating to the Occupied Japan period, approximately 1945–1952.The box has a rich reddish-brown lacquer finish with a decorative bird and floral design in pale blue-gray, gold, and burnt orange. The decoration appears to have been applied using a stencil-like technique. The long rectangular form is accented with brass-tone hinges and a small front lock plate. No key is present.Measures approximately 12 3/4” long x 5” wide x 4 3/4” high.The interior is finished in black and remains clean overall.Good vintage condition with age-related wear. The top shows some dullness to the finish and a faint partial circular mark on the left side, possibly from moisture or an object resting on the surface. There are scattered small nicks and minor edge wear. The hinged lid closes but does not sit completely flush.
