Vintage Sharp PF-116 Pagoda Tube Radio Occupied Japan 1948 All American 5 Works:
$175.00

Offered here is a Sharp PF-116 "Pagoda" style, All American 5, tube radio. This radio was produced by the Hayakawa Electric Co. Ltd. in the post WWII era commonly known as Occupied Japan. The radio measure 10 x 7.5 x 5.5inches. I has a black lacquered wood case with period Japanese hand painting. It uses a 35W4, 35C5, 12BE6, 12BA6, and 12AU6 tubes. It is a broadcast band only receiver. Years ago I replaced the filter capacitors by re-stuffing the original can and replaced most of the other capacitors. There were 2 or 3 that I didn't replace because they were very difficult to get to. The radio plays well and sounds as good as a cheap 4 inch permanent magnet speaker can sound. The power cord was also replaced. The cabinet is in good bright condition with a bit of fading on the top surface. Questions welcomed. I pack radios with great care but I can't guarantee that the tubes may come loose from the sockets during their trip with the Post Office. If the radio doesn't play when unpacked, please try re-seating the tubes before contacting me about a return.
