Up for sale is a fantastic piece of mid-century Pacific Northwest advertising history: an original metallic gold foil matchbook for The Copy Company based out of downtown Seattle, Washington.
The exterior features a highly reflective, bright gold foil finish stamped with a stylized industrial \"The Copy Co.\" camera lens logo. The back showcases their \"Prompt Pick-Up & Delivery Service,\" their historic 205 James Street address, and two classic vintage alphanumeric phone exchanges: MA. 2-4050 and MA. 2-4051. The bottom saddle edge is marked by the collectible manufacturer Monarch Match Co. San Jose, Cal.
The inside flap includes an amazing vintage breakdown of mid-century technical services and drafting engineering supplies offered:
• Photo Copies
• Blue & Black Lines
• 35, 70 & 105 M.M. Microfilming
• Cloth & Film Reproductions
• Photo Drafting
• Offset Printing
• Engineering & Art Supplies
Match Count & Condition Note:
• Matches Remaining: Full, complete comb containing all 20 original paper match splints with bright, clean red heads.
• Strike Strip Condition: The striker strip on the bottom flap is completely clean and unstruck, showing zero ignition rub marks.
• Cover Condition: The striking gold foil cover is fully intact with sharp black printing. There is a tiny speck of oxidation/wear on the lower left of the front striker cover area and minor natural storage curvature from age, but it has no heavy creases, writing, or graphic fade (please review the high-resolution close-up photos for exact cosmetic detail).
An exceptional condition addition for phillumenists, printing industry historians, or collectors of historic Seattle storefront memorabilia.
