Commissioned in limited quantities during LBJ’s tenure in the Oval Office as the 36th President of the United States (1963–1969), these lighters were used exclusively as official executive VIP gifts handed out directly by the President to visiting dignitaries, White House guests, and close political allies.
Crafted from lightweight aluminum with a satin matte-gold tone finish, the front face panel features a deeply engraved Seal of the President of the United States highlighted by a crisp, contrasting black facsimile script signature reading \"Lyndon B. Johnson\" underneath.
The base of the outer case is crisply stamped with the authenticated manufacturer hallmarks: PATS. PEND. - Storm Master - MADE IN U.S.A. - C. • Outer Finish: The satin matte-gold finish is beautifully preserved on the flat face panels with crisp, highly legible engraving lines. There is natural, expected surface wear along the perimeter edges, corners, and lid hinge lines where the thin gold layer has softened, allowing tiny slivers of the bright silvery-grey aluminum base metal to peek through. No deep gouges, heavy drops, or structural crushing.
• Internal Mechanism: The original Bowers insert slides snugly into the case. The thumb friction wheel retains sharp gear serrations with firm tension, and the internal cam lever arm rivet is structurally secure. The solid brass mechanical elements have aged to a deep, beautiful historic golden-brown patina. The internal chamber houses its vintage raw cotton/wool packing fibers and wick.
• Hinge & Action: The lid hinge retains solid alignment with normal light vintage lateral play.
