This early school keepsake was presented by Miss Anna Mae Miller, Teacher, and contains a printed roster of the pupils attending States Fork School during the 1912–1913 school year.

The booklet features a colorful period “Souvenir” cover with globe, books, wings and landscape imagery. The front bears the sentiment:
“On every thorn delightful wisdom grows,
In every rill a sweet instruction flows.”
Interior pages contain decorative school verses and poems, including “What I Live For,” surrounded by ornate period borders.
The original cord binding and tassel remain present.
These early school souvenir booklets were given by teachers to pupils as keepsakes at the close of the school year and are an interesting predecessor to later school yearbooks.
Condition: Good antique condition for a piece over 110 years old. Shows expected age toning, light spotting/discoloration, minor edge and corner wear, and general handling wear. There is wear around the binding holes. Original cord remains intact, while the tassel shows age and fraying. Interior printing remains clear and readable. Please review all photographs closely for exact condition.
A wonderful piece of early West Virginia educational history and genealogy, particularly appealing because the school, district, teacher and individual pupils are all identified.
