Perfect for organizing and displaying magazines, this collectible item is both functional and decorative, making it a must-have for any collector or design enthusiast.Arthur Armour crafted decorative metalware items in Grove City, Pennsylvania, starting in the early 1930s. He specialized in hand-hammered aluminum objects, turning plain sheets of metal into functional home accessories featuring intricate embossed designs. His workshop used traditional hand-tooling techniques, such as chasing and repoussé, which set his work apart from mass-produced stamped metal goods of the era.Families used these decorative aluminum pieces in living rooms and dens during the mid-twentieth century to hold magazines, newspapers, and letters. They were placed beside armchairs or on tabletops as both stylish storage and conversation pieces reflecting an interest in travel and geography. Over time, changing interior design preferences led to a decline in the popularity of decorative metal accessories, ending the commercial production of these handcrafted items. Please refer to photos to better assess condition as they are the best indicator of actual condition.
