1960s HUMMEL Sister (Girl With Basket) / TMK-3 Bee Mark / BISQUE PORCELAIN / Wow: $39.00
In 1935, German porcelain manufacturer introduced its first line of figurines based on the drawings of nun Maria Innocentia Hummel. After the end of World War II, the popularity of Hummel figurines grew as American soldiers stationed in West Germany began sending the figurines home as gifts. The peak of the Hummel craze was in the 1970’s. Goebel ceased production of the figurines in 2008. This figurine is called Sister (Girl With Basket) and has a TMK-3 trademark on the bottom that dates the piece to between 1960-72. Older examples of Hummels are worth more than the newer ones to collectors. The figurine measures 5.5 inches tall by 3 inches wide and is in excellent vintage condition with just a small chip on the back of the base and age craquelure to the glossy glaze on the bottom (see scans).
