The game matched the Washington Redskins against the Miami Dolphins, with Washington defeating Miami 27–17.The game is especially remembered for Washington running back John Riggins, who produced one of the iconic performances in Super Bowl history. Riggins rushed for 166 yards, including his famous fourth-quarter 43-yard touchdown run, and was named Super Bowl XVII MVP.These souvenirs therefore represent not only an early-1980s Super Bowl but also an important moment in NFL history and the history of the Rose Bowl.Collector AppealUnlike the much more commonly encountered small Super Bowl XVII lapel pins, these are elaborate pinback-and-ribbon souvenir pieces with hanging novelty charms.
