1st Special Forces Group Airborne Engineer Torii Bottle Opener Challenge Coin
⭐ KEY FEATURES
• 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) Group Engineer presentation coin built around Special Forces and U.S. Army Engineer identity
• Torii gate and Engineer Castle design with Airborne Special Forces insignia, De Oppresso Liber crest, Essayons, and Major oak leaf
• Approx. 2.5-inch die-cut, dual-sided bottle opener design with extensive enamel detailing and open-center construction
📌 DESCRIPTION
Few challenge coins combine Special Forces, Army Engineer, and presentation symbolism this directly. This 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) Group Engineer coin was created around a recognition purpose stated on the coin itself: “Presented in Appreciation for Outstanding Support of Group Engineer Operations.” Its unusual architectural form brings together the Special Forces identity of 1st SFG(A) and the unmistakable castle symbolism of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
The front is constructed as a stylized Torii gate fused with the Engineer Castle, creating an open-center profile that also functions as a bottle opener. One tower carries the Airborne Special Forces arrowhead insignia, while the opposite tower displays the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) crest with the De Oppresso Liber motto. Red, black, green, gold, and white enamel provides strong separation against the polished silver-tone metal.
The reverse identifies “1st Special Forces Group (A), Group Engineer” across the upper beam and places “ESSAYONS”, the traditional U.S. Army Corps of Engineers motto, across the center. A raised gold-tone Major oak leaf occupies the lower castle, above the full appreciation inscription for outstanding support of Group Engineer operations. Together, those elements give the coin a particularly specific presentation identity rather than simply representing the broader Special Forces or Engineer communities.
Its approx. 2.5-inch size, deep open-cut architecture, functional bottle opener, Torii profile, Engineer Castle, and presentation wording make this an unusually detailed 1st SFG(A) piece with substantial visual presence.

🧭 CONDITION & PHOTO NOTES
This 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) Group Engineer presentation coin retains bright multi-color enamel, sharp architectural cutouts, clearly defined insignia and lettering, and strong polished-metal contrast. Minor surface marks and light finish wear are visible along some exposed metal areas and edges from prior handling or display.
The intricate open-center construction remains visually strong, with the Torii gate, Engineer Castle, smaller enamel insignia, reverse lettering, and raised gold-tone Major oak leaf presenting clearly in the photographs.
As with most pre-owned collectible challenge coins, light evidence of handling, display, storage, or age may be present. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form part of the description and provide the best representation of the exact coin you will receive.
📸 Photos are taken under high-intensity lighting to highlight fine details, sculpting, and finish. This lighting may reveal minor surface characteristics that are often less noticeable during normal display.
