An Exceptional Mid-Victorian Dated Needlework Panel — Stitched in 1860 by 14-Year-Old Jane Waddington.

Offered for your collection is a striking, deeply authentic antique Berlin wool work and cross-stitch panel, dating precisely to March 8th, 1860. Rendered in rich, historic tones, the scene depicts the biblical narrative "Christus und die Samariterin" (Christ and the Samaritan Woman at the well), surrounded by symmetrical botanical motifs and floral sprays.

At the base, meticulously hand-stitched lettering reads:

“Jane Waddington swerk Aged 14 years March 8th 1860.”

Era: Mid-19th Century Victorian (1860)

Maker: Jane Waddington (Aged 14)

Inscriptions: Stitched German biblical title and maker details.

Presentation: Housed in a warm wood-toned frame behind glass with a professional backing.

Good antique condition with tight, vibrant stitching and clear typography. Displays minor, authentic age-related toning/fading on the upper right background canvas, consistent with a textile over 160 years old. Please inspect all photos closely as they form part of the description.
