Incredibly scarce piece of British social and manufacturing history: an original 1920s Dunlop molded rubber anthropomorphic teddy bear novelty hot water bottle.
During the late 1920s, the world-famous Dunlop Rubber Company expanded its production into whimsical household items, creating a highly sought-after "Animal Series" of children's character hot water bottles.
The wide opening at the top of the bear’s head served as a built-in funnel for pouring hot water, and the molded top loop allowed it to be hung up to dry.
The reverse side features incredibly crisp, deeply molded text that firmly establishes its authenticity.

Given that early vulcanized rubber is highly prone to severe degrading, warping, and cracking over the decades, this 99-year-old survivor is in remarkable shape.
