This is a rare and exceptional antique Austrian desk box featuring a finely detailed figural cold-painted bronze plaque lid depicting an Orientalist scholar reading in an architectural interior setting. The body of the box is crafted from hammered brass with a warm, undisturbed period patina and retains its original wood interior lining. It is clearly marked AUSTRIA on the interior base. Please refer to all listing photographs for precise item dimensions and close-up views of the details. Overall condition is very good antique condition, showing minor surface wear, small dings, and a few trace remnants of the original cold paint consistent with age and genuine historical use. Perfect for collectors of fine Viennese bronzes and antique desk accessories.
