Dating to approximately the 1910s–1920s, this antique hand-colored photographic portrait depicts a young woman seated in a formal studio setting, wearing a pale dress with lace and layered details. The softly applied green, blue, and neutral coloring gives the enlarged photograph the appearance of a pastel or crayon portrait, a popular form of early 20th-century memorial and family portraiture. It is presented under glass in an elaborate gold-toned frame with raised floral scrollwork, shell-like corner ornaments, and layered decorative borders. Antique condition with fading, discoloration, surface lines, and age-related wear to the photograph; the ornate frame has finish wear and a crack at the upper-left corner, as pictured.
