Antique hand-forged steel pickaroon, also known as a hookaroon, traditionally used in logging, timber handling, and forestry work.
This heavy-duty logging tool features a long, sharply curved pointed hook designed to grip logs and timber for pulling, dragging, lifting, and repositioning. The head has an elongated handle eye and substantial forged steel construction.
The steel displays visible forging characteristics, an aged finish, and evidence of many years of use. The distinctive curved hook retains its pointed profile.
A nice example of an early logging and lumberjack tool, suitable for collectors of antique forestry equipment, primitive hand tools, and early American logging memorabilia.
Estimated era: Late 19th to early 20th century, approximately 1880–1930.

MEASUREMENTS

CONDITION
Antique condition with wear consistent with age and previous use. The steel exhibits surface oxidation, scratches, pitting, and various forging and impact marks.
The rear striking surface shows considerable wear and deformation from previous hammering, including some mushrooming and visible cracking or separation along the outer edges.
The curved hook retains its defined pointed shape. The elongated handle eye is open, with oxidation visible inside.
A solid-looking antique forged steel tool head with attractive aged character. Structural integrity has not been tested.
