Offered here is a striking matched pair of French cobalt blue porcelain pieces attributed to the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres, France.
The set consists of:
* One tall covered vase, approximately 12½ inches high
* One covered two-handled sugar bowl with attached/integral plateau, approximately 6 inches high × 7 inches diameter
Both pieces feature a deep cobalt or bleu-de-four ground with delicate gilt floral decoration and gold trim.
The covered vase bears a red factory/decorator mark reading approximately:
“MANUFACTURE NATIONALE / DORÉ À SÈVRES / T”
It also carries the number 60 and an inventory/model-type number believed to read 6896.
The covered sugar bowl bears a similar red Manufacture Nationale / Doré à Sèvres mark with the letters AP, along with a green 58 mark.
The sugar bowl form appears consistent with the French form known as a “sucrier couvert à plateau adhérent” — a covered sugar bowl with an integral attached tray or plateau.
Both lids appear original and properly fitted to their respective pieces.
We contacted Sèvres in France seeking additional information regarding the exact model and date, but did not receive a response. For that reason, the numbers and letter codes on the pieces are being presented exactly as found and are not being represented as confirmed production dates.
These are beautiful decorative examples of French Sèvres porcelain and display extremely well as a pair.
Please examine all photographs carefully for condition, factory marks, decoration, gilding, and any signs of age or wear. Photos are considered part of the description.
Sold as a pair.
