Fantastic hand signed and dated specimen- antique Sarreguemines majolica humidor tobacco jar
This figural jar depicts a frog dressed in a double-breasted jacket and hat, playing a mandolin.
Dimensions are roughly 6\" high and 5\" wide.
The piece is hand-signed by N. Rist, who was a designer for the Sarreguemines factory in France in the late 1800s.
Also handwritten is the date 1898, which I would imagine to be the production date.
The piece is in good antique condition- great details in the hand painting, some chips.
The most visible chip is on the back/side of the hat, there are a couple of additional small chips on rim of base and underside of top.
There is also a small hairline crack on the back of the base near the top.
