I will replace adial only if it needs it and most do. I replace dials with copies of theoriginal dial. I have collected dials over the years and I reproduce my owndials with their names and logos as they were originally produced.

I do clean the clockcases and take them apart. Some have minor damage from the years andothers need some major repairs.I use the original finish ifpossible and match the original if necessary. Many of these clocks havesmall dents or flaws from when they were made or have been damaged at some timeover the years. Many of my cabinets have dents from being in storage for manyyears. Many have “alligatored” finishesdue to the heat of a fireplace or hot attic. Some of these clocks, I will fully refinish them to look new and othersI will leave these imperfections and polish their cases.

Some of my clockcabinets have not been fully restored. When I come across ones that have beentaken care of over the years, I will only restore the movement and dial asnecessary and clean / polish the cabinets.

The engravingsof the black clocks are restored by hand. This is time consuming andtakes patience. I do this myself and find it really adds to the beauty ofthese clocks.
