Brilliant Design, Late 19th C. \"Ice Cream Whole Sale\" Wood Sign With Frozen Font For Sale

A very special and unique sign, that\'s brilliant in design. And if there was a sign award to be given, this sign would snatch it up before you can take a lick.
This wasn\'t a sign maker simply writing a few words on a plank of wood, but a well thought out and ingenious take on presenting ice cream through visual writing.
Before we get into the brilliancy of the design we like to highlight that just visually speaking it\'s a gorgeous sign in a subdued way. The gold letters against the muted green is striking in a calm sense. The announcement of ice cream in itself is enough to shout the exclamation marks needed; and so there was no need for the designer to over do it visually. He did not need to scream ice cream.
But let\'s get to the brilliant part, and where the magic of this sign takes place. And that is in how the word Ice Cream was designed. There are two major accomplishments in the design of this word here; first is the frosted cold letters, which you can almost feel them shiver. This touches on our sensory modes, and it\'s executed so beautifully. The second part is in the melting of the letter M at the end of cream, depicting a melting ice cream. This is genius design, ladies and gentlemen.
Now the whole message of the sign was not just Ice Cream, but \"Ice Cream Whole Sale\". And so not to steal away from the top half of the message, the designer balanced the second part with a more calm cursive font. But though it\'s cursive it\'s still ornate in its wide and long approach, because we still want the message of whole-sale to be prominent.
And with these glorious design approaches and execution the designer achieved the mark needed.
