CAPROCK GOLD QUARTZ SPECIMEN .28 GRAM NATURAL GOLD IN QUARTZ:

NATIVE GOLD QUARTZSPECIMEN fromCALIFORNIARuler is 1/4\" wide (6 mm). U.S. 10 cent coin is 17.8 mm in diameter.Specimen weight: 4.4Grains (Troy) - .28Gram Size: 8X7X4.3 mm Who doesn\'t dig a rock with real visible gold showing? This one contains both Au and ironcap i.e a bloody patina of oxidized iron. Years ago, I studied quartz extensively always hoping something with visible gold would show up. Sad to say, it never happened. One time, however, I sat down alongside a wash, picked up a random piece of altered quartz, crushed it, and panned out about two grains of Au. With the offered specimen, you won\'t get your money\'s worth in gold. Quartz and other minerals are part of the equation. I guarantee the presence of VG. The high cost is because it\'s a natural specimen. It wasn\'t \'doctored\' up or salted. Specimen comes from the Sierra Nevada Mtns. of California, district unknown.
In some regions, exposed outcroppings of auriferous ore appear at contact zones generally as an interwoven series of quartz veins. Other times, they\'re lenticular in nature i.e. more prevalent as interspersed lenses or pockets inside some variety of surrounding wall rock. Eventually, weathering causes these pockets to break down. Chunks of gold-bearing rock depart the old homestead and gravitate downward. Eventually, high grade pieces will travel long distances from their source. During it\'s journey, most of the host rock breaks off. In the process, gold becomes nuggets, gold flakes, flour gold, etc. This rich chunk being offered was once part of the Mother Lode gold belt. The gold inside is high in purity and shows some crystalline habit. Unlike a multitude of \'leaverite\' listings found at the top of the \'gold quartz specimen\' category, the gold emplacement here is au naturel. Allmy rocks show VG (visible gold) and are comprised of100% naturally-occurring minerals.

Checkanyand all Gold of Eldorado response for disputesarisingfrom non-authenticity of the specimens I sell. You won\'t find any.Ideal in nativeminerals with visible gold, notreplicas, not\'paint-ons\'.I don\'tpeddle \'simulated\' specimens created by artistes using minute amounts of gold or no real gold at all. No fake nuggets or leaverites here, folks. I\'ve personallybought stuff thathad gold painted on it. Also purchased here have been \'natural gold quartz\'specimens withtiny chunks of placer goldgluedon. The last fake piece which arrived was a hum-dinger zinger. It contained something that looked like bubbly, gold-colored foam glued down inside a vug. Scammers abound and long-time, reputable gold dealers can\'t just turn them in to some higher authority. All of my advertised specimens, slabs, cabochons, gold oreset alare authentic. Everything I sell contains naturally-occurring gold. The purity of this gold varies, but if it\'s from California, you can count onthe percentage being fairly high, say 80 to 90% pure. For comparision,a 14Kgold wedding band is 58% pure gold.Theorigin of this small, rich specimen is, perhaps, an undiscoveredveinsomewhere in theSierraNevadaMtns. ofCalifornia.UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH GOLD
Yukon miners astride their monster Cats push more ground in an hourthan the average small-scale digger can move in a lifetime. I know. I placer mined for nineteen years using mostly hand tools. If you plan on becoming a full-time miner, better start building up those callouses. For callous therapy, there\'s nothing like a Georgia Drag Line (a shovel) for hardening the hands.A pickaxe ranks right up there too. Small-scale diggers use what\'s available, affordable, and most practical. Nowadays, prospectors enjoy distinct advantages over the old timers. Some examples are jumbo Cats, backhoes, dump trucks, excavators, and front-end loaders. We\'ve also got ATVs, Lidar, GPS, topo maps, magnetometers, and helicopters. Many guys are outfitted with an armload of new-fangled metal detectors. None of these guarantee you\'ll strike it rich, but they certainly increase your odds. Lone wolf prospectors using hand tools become intimate with gold. Why wouldn\'t we? You\'re down close to the ground where the gold is. Here\'s the difference. Without big dirt-moving machinery, one has to be very selective about what ground he runs. Why shovel overburden or unproven dirt into a high-banker, sluice, or drywasher with no clue about what\'s in it? I was that guy determined to extract every speck. If I suspected gold was inside a pile of dirt, I\'d run it. Of course, after a few years, any miner with a lick of sense becomes more selective. After a few years, a person starts viewing the terrain with a more practiced eye. Even before sinking a pick in the ground, there were times I knew gold would be at or near a spot. That\'s a very cool feeling to know your nose-for-gold has finally blossomed. Granted, detectorists pinpoint nuggets all the time, but they rely upon electronics to first give them a hit, a signal telling them some unknown target beckons. For a person to mentally-eyeball gold buried within terrain without aid of electronics takes knowledge of gold\'s habits, haunts, and travels. That\'s what I call becoming intimate with gold. For me, the 80s was an exhilarating era. Back then, I felt like King of the Drywashermen. I wasn\'t, but it seemed that way. Lone-wolf prospecting tends to become highly-individualistic. This takes me back to a song I wrote called Alone In The Desert. After a few years of working Arizona drywashes, I became fairly proficient at finding gold. During the summer months, the heat becomes too brutal to function, so autumn\'s a much more comfortable, practical time to tackle dry gold deposits. Southwestern Arizona between May and October is miserably hot. Think twice before picking that season to go prospecting the outback in. Such climes can kill you. Deserts in the summertime aren\'t fun places to be outdoors and, without ample resources, can easily become one\'s undoing. Winter climes, conversely, are pleasant; well-suited climate-wise for treks into the boonies. I loved back-packing and camping overnight in the bush. Until the rains came, a guy could hike into the mountains toting adrywasher on his back. With a keen eye, after digging boo coo test holes, sometimes you\'d sink your pickaxe into a patch of new ground, begin shoveling, and hit a nicepocket or pay-streak - good dirt overlooked by the old timers. There were other drywashermen combing local gullies as well; skookum guys who worked just as hard as I did. My guess is they rolled back concentrates in their trays and seeing good color, felt that familiar surge of excitement. During that era and long before, going it alone on foot is just what prospectors did. The fewer people who knew where you were going, the better. Claim-jumpers are a watchful brood of scoundrels. They come in all stripes and basically don\'t give a hoot about whose hole they jump in. Through the years, despite my predatory encounters, prospecting fit me to a T. Alone in the desert, a person can almost taste the tranquility and solitude. To find wild, virgin gold, unearth it whereno one else thought to look...that\'s more rewarding than how much \'yeller\' falls into your poke.In the SW Arizona desert, big nuggets always have been something of an anomaly. They\'re very rare. In other regions of the world, it\'s an altogether different story. Several years ago, like in the 70s and 80s, ten ounce Australian nuggets were the rule, not the exception. I have that on good authority. My old stomping grounds were never ten ounce nugget territories. My western American diggings were lean, isolated fields where a quarter ounce lead or half a pennyweight nugget represented a memorable moment in time. They still do. When a prospector finds respectable gold in southwestern Arizona or southeastern California, it\'s a thrill. Working hungry digs, a guy never gets jaded. In the bottom of a clear, water-filled vial, every little nugget, even a pea-sized one, seems larger than the sun itself; like a burning orb which consumes a poor prospector with gold lust.

Thanks forchecking out our digs.
