Original piece of panel fabric from the art project "Running Fence, Sonoma and Marin Counties, California, 1972-1976" by Christo & Jeanne-Claude. Unlike his later projects, Christo did not provide visitors with 3x3 inch sample swatches. Instead he gave the materials from Running Fence to the ranchers whose land he'd used. Running Fence had 2050 panels and was 5.5 meters (18 feet) high, 39.4 kilometers (24.5 miles) long. Almost none of the panels remain today, making these fabric swatches from the actual project rare.
