RARE GEM SILICA in limonite matrix from Arizona.I purchased this at The Tucson Show from a miner. The source was labeled Globe-Miami area, but no specific mine per se.
It also resembles motorolite from Zimbabwe, but the source was specifically stated to be from ARIZONA.
This is a fabulous rough specimen. There are areas that trans-illuminates beautifully( Please see photos 1 , 10-13). The trans illumination is limited because the outer limonite layer has not been removed or manipulated. This rough piece could definitely produce many beautiful cabochons, that I anticipate would all trans-illuminate beautifully and be potentially of gem grade quality!
PHOTOS 1 , 14-19 SHOW THE SPECIMEN WET.THIS RARE SPECIMEN IS A FABULOUS COLLECTOR GRADE SPECIMEN THAT WOULD MAKE A FINE ADDITION TO ANY RARE MINERAL COLLECTION!!!Size: 4 7/8 x 4 x 1 1/8 \"
